Maureen Gutierrez, MD, leads the Dallas Comprehensive Medical Care practice where she sees both new and current patients.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Gutierrez began her pursuit of medicine at the University of Virginia where she completed her pre-medical training and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry in 1997. After three years of teaching math and science for Teach for America in the Houston Independent School District and KIPP Academy in Houston, Texas, she continued her studies at the University of Texas at Houston where she received her medical degree in 2004. Gutierrez spent the next four years in specialty training and residency in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., where she was appointed chief resident and served one year as an instructor to internal medicine trainees.

“From these experiences I learned that first and foremost my job as a physician is still that of a teacher. You cannot simply tell someone what to do, you have to explain and educate,” said Gutierrez. “This has influenced the way I approach my patients.”

Gutierrez moved back to the Lone Star State in 2008 where she joined the medical staff of Texas Health Dallas. When she’s not treating patients, the dedicated and loyal doctor is like every other mother. She enjoys spending free time with her husband and two sons and loves a good book. She is currently training for her first half-marathon. Gutierrez has exceptional time management skills – while each of her patients has her full attention, she still makes time for her family.
